11SEP09 We share in solemn remembrance of the events, victims, survivors and heroes of 9/11 and their families. We pray for them and for America. What better way to exclaim the message of victory over adversity, joy despite struggle and life after death, than with a birth? Today at 8:19am Iryna gave birth to our beautiful daughter, Angela. She is our living memorial to the hope that we have in Christ, no matter what happens around or to us. 01SEP09 Finding the original domain name, www.OneWonderfulWord.com, was a difficult task. I spent several days thinking of ideas for a site name and then discovering they were already owned. Apparently many people buy multiple domain names as a speculative investment, not for personal or business use. For a few dollars each they purchase basic and creative names which are likely to draw demand. Sooner or later when somebody wants one of these domain names, the investor can sell it for hundreds or even thousands of dollars. I have no problem with capitalism; that simply explains why good and available domain names are hard to find. Furthermore, if we ever have thousands of dollars to spend toward ministry, we feel there are much wiser ways to spend it. So the original site name was useful in that it allowed me to start building this site. But it was a compromise, and increasingly I wanted to find a name that encompassed our message more clearly. Finally I found www.MoreThanReligion.org and bought it today. This is our permanent home. 21AUG09 Iryna has gone to several appointments with her doctors, and everything is looking good. Today we went to see the actual hospital where we were planning to give birth. We didn't like the hospital, and it didn't seem the right place. So we drove to a farther hospital, Missouri Baptist Hospital, and felt confirmed about it. Yet Iryna's current doctors do not deliver babies there. So we have to find a new doctor willing to accept her on VERY short notice. Angela is due in just a couple of weeks. But if God led us to this hospital, He will also bring us to the right doctor... 29JUL09 Today we met Yuriy. Long before buying, or even finding, the apartment we were praying for the right workers who would fix or finish whatever apartment we bought. Yuriy is the man God sent for the job, and he has a team of guys working for him. He is a Christian and was recommended by two friends. We look forward to working together with him. 28JUL09 Two months of intense searching and praying ended with God helping us to purchase an apartment today. It is right next to family and in the area we know best. It is an unfinished apartment, and it will take some resources to make it home. We had a lot of fun with family and enjoyed seeing friends again too. Lord willing, we will return soon. 29MAY09 We departed for Kharkov, Ukraine in hopes of figuring out our living situation there. We plan to return to the US in two months, on 30JUL09, to prepare for the birth of our second child (first daughter), Angela. 14MAY09 After a week or so of negotiations, and a several more weeks of waiting, we finally sold our house. We praise God that He sold our house and provided Phil who was well-equipped for the negotiation process and saved us some money. We lost most of what we put into that house, but we consider it again to go and follow God's direction. Our US home will be outside of St Louis, Missouri with family. __MAR__ After several weeks of feeling forgotten by our agents, we prayerfully cancelled our listing with the first agents and relisted with a member of our church, Phil. We feel sure that he is the guy God wants us to work with. Maybe we didn't listen the first time, or maybe we didn't wait for God's voice: we will learn from that experience. However, Phil is our man now. 21APR2009 We found out mid-January that Iryna was pregnant again. Today she had an ultrasound, and the technician told us it's a girl! 02APR2009 God brought us a buyer! The projected closing date is 15May. After negotiations, it looks like we will recoup about 20% of our total renovation investment in this house, God willing. However, far more valuable is the opportunity to return to Ukraine for the purpose God intends. 05MAR2009 We cancelled the listing with the first agents, because they showed little interest in selling our house once we signed the contract. We relisted the house with a new friend at our church, Phil. 29JAN2009 After much prayer and consideration, we finally decided on a domain name and bought www.OneWonderfulWord.com (and .net, .org, .info). Now we begin work on the site. 24JAN2009 We listed our house in Indianapolis for sale. When it sells we will be on our way back to Kharkov, Ukraine for family and ministry. This will be a long-term relocation, God willing. |
