JesusOur names are Stephen and Iryna. We are husband and wife-American and Ukrainian. Before we met, God delivered us from our old lives to Christ. Years later He joined us together from across an ocean. We have personal testimonies of His calling and share an amazing story of His care. Life can be difficult, but the Lord is faithful. Problems arise, but God is greater. So it is our joy to tell you about Him, that perhaps some will come to Him and others may come closer. JesusWe created this website as a way to reach out to as many people as possible. Through varied content we try to communicate the glory and grace of God and the truth of His Word, on a personal level. People come here with different backgrounds and perspectives. We want to show that Christ is real and life-changing. He is the One true God but also one's best friend. Meanwhile the site introduces new believers to biblical principles and reminds old believers of them. We pray that some will come to Christ and others will come closer, to receive the gift of salvation and experience His fullness. JesusIryna and I met on a Christian singles’ website. I had just arrived home from the Army and found the site while looking for Christian friends. (Visit Stephen’s Testimony for more details.) She came to the site through an online pop-up at an internet café. We corresponded for months-first by email, then by web microphone, then by webcam. Our conver- sations gave us the chance to learn about each other without the complications of physical attraction. We talked for hours about all kinds of things and eventually wanted to meet. After much prayer and planning, I visited her in Kharkov. JesusI walked out from the Kiev Airport international arrival area. She was waiting outside the doors with a big smile. We had imagined that a face-to-face encounter might be less comfortable than screen-to-screen had been. Actually, it wasn’t an issue. Her family was warm and welcoming. I met new friends. My eyes were opened to a different culture. It was a great visit, and the month passed quickly. My departure was a difficult good-bye. JesusWe stood at our first crossroads. Due to our circumstances, continuing a relationship would require a lot of resources. Anything less than love would not be worth the effort. Nor would it stand the strain. So the time had come to ask ourselves if we were just having fun or if it was something much more? It was not a casual decision. Nonetheless, I knew she was the one for me. Fortunately, she felt the same way.
Kharkov to propose and marry Iryna. Furthermore, I decided to stay until we could return to America together. We were married in Kharkov, Ukraine in August of 2004. We rented an apartment and lived there until Iryna’s visa was approved. Within a few months I brought my bride to America. Thus began our journey together. our marriage and our life together. Over time we moved from an apartment in Florida, to an old house in West Virginia to a better house in Indianapolis, Indiana. There I started and ran a successful business. We also were blessed with our first child, Samuel, in May of 2008. We had come a long way and then were more established than ever before. Nevertheless, that was only the beginning. JesusDespite relative comfort, I was unsettled. The house was nice, but we missed our Ukrainian family and friends. Business was good, but it didn't satisfy my heart. We considered and prayed about our situation until the answer came. God had faithfully guided and provided. Yet His purpose was not to plant us in Indianapolis. Instead, it had all been to strengthen our faith and to prepare us in every way for His calling. We had discussed returning to Kharkov previously, but God had not confirmed it. Finally though, many pieces came together, and the door looked open. JesusWe set our efforts toward that goal. First, we sold many of our household items. Meanwhile I slowed and then ceased business. At that point we were blessed again by another baby on the way. Next, we put the house up for sale and began creating this website. Soon enough we were on our way back to Kharkov, again. |
